Hey guys,
in all my years fighting the good fight in regards to commission pricing I haven't really sat down and worked on a journal explaining HOW to sell your commissions since pricing properly alone unfortunately wont do the trick. I feel like this kind of information is really lacking in our community so I hope you'll find this journal to be helpful and informative. So let's dive right in, shall we?
Everyone is capable of getting commission sales, regardless of their skill level. It's all in how and where you market yourself. If your commissions aren't selling, it probably says more about your marketing skills than your art skills.
As part of Pride, I wanted to do a journal on a few artists whose works are known for being associated with the gay rights movement, just to share a bit of queer history that ties in with art and how we view art and our world because of the impact they’ve had. Having said that, I’m admittedly not much of an art historian, and it seemed woefully unfair to boil the efforts of many down into an amount of text that would fit into one singular journal. Instead, I decided to focus on one so I could provide at least a little insight into an influential artist in the queer community. (Keith Haring in front of his Pisa Mural, 1989) One of the most recognizable artists from New York in the 1980s, Keith Haring was born in Pennsylvania in 1958, and grew to love drawing early on, taking inspiration from cartoons and pop culture. He attended a commercial arts school in Pittsburgh for a year, but dropped out after deciding he had no interest in being a commercial artist. (Untitled, 1980) He
Today, the world is certainly a lot less super as we mourn the loss of Stan Lee. A humble genius who at one time commented that he wasn't sure that what he did meant anything, Stan Lee was a legend and he will surely be missed by many. He brought us fantastical worlds and infinite possibilities and provided not only escape but an opportunity for many. Rest in Peace, Stan Lee, thank you for being our superhero
Excelsior!
With great power there must also come ... great responsibility!

I never thought that Spider-Man would become the world wide icon that he is. I just hoped the books would sell and I'd keep my job.

Community Engagement Week
As part of Community Engagement Week I'm here to discuss how to deal with unwanted contact on DA.
It's unfortunate but true, trolls and bullies do happen on DA, just as they do any other part of the internet as well. As nice as it would be if we could magically make them disappear from the site, there are other things we can do to help prevent or minimize unwanted contact with these types of people. Today I hope to share some tips and options that may help you have a more peaceful DA experience, hopefully free or mostly free of unwanted contact.
What should you do if you receive comments or notes from a user yo

Of all the illustrators I have found on deviantART throughout the years, teaganwhite (https://www.deviantart.com/teaganwhite) is one if my all-time favorites. Sweet pastels and deep earth tones set the mood in a heartwarming world of wild (and not so wild) animals, fruits, and bones. Throughout her work, the cyclic nature of life and death is a major theme.
As her profile explains,"Nature's subtleties and reciprocal relationships between living things inspire her most, and her work typically incorporates nostalgic colors, decorative arrangements of organic forms, and meticulous detail."

PE: Chat Interview with copperrein
As part of our Chat and Forum PE week we felt we should also include interviews with chat and forum regulars.
Today we are talking to copperrein (https://www.deviantart.com/copperrein) who is a long time chat regular and was also a Chat and Forums CV not too long ago.
How long have you been a chatter on dAmn?
I've been in the chats for as long as I've been on Deviant Art, so 6 years. Six years of text-based depravity.
Do you have any rooms you enjoy the most?
I used to go to :#photographers:, :#thumbsshare:, and :#cabal:...but they have sort of died off. I now spend most of my time in #devart (https://chat.deviantart.com/chat/devart), :#notdevart:, and a few private user rooms.
How has being in the chats affect
